The first time you open Quicken after installing a new version, Quicken converts the last data file you worked in. If you find that data is missing,.

You're not very clear what the problem is. When you reference Windows 7 quit, did you also loose your files? If you don't have a backup or copy of your Quicken files, then of course they are lost and there's nothing nobody anywhere can doto help you.The fact that you mentioned ' Quicken quit working' also makes me wonder if it didn't corrupt your data file. If so, this is something that you should have resolved while Windows 7 was still working though, prior to installing Windows 8. Butregardless, that would be an issue to resolve through Intuit as nobody else will be able to help with corrupt Quicken files. If you still have the files, then does Quicken 2013 run in Windows 8?
If Quicken 2013 runs, then it's a simple matter of copying your Quicken data file(s) back to your Documents and telling Quicken 2013 to open them. I assume it will ask to convertthem since they are such an old format, but that shouldn't be an issue. If Quicken 2013 runs but you get some sort of error message when trying to open your old Quicken data file, then again, that's going to have to be an issue you address withIntuit as it has nothing to do with your operating system. If the issue is the file is fine and Quicken 2013 runs fine but the 2000 format is too old for Quicken 2013 to open, then perhaps this link can help. As I recall, formats older than 2004 need to be converted to a newer version first before the newversions of Quicken can open them. You're not very clear what the problem is.
